Intro to Modern Embroidery

Discover the art of modern embroidery, where relaxation and playfulness intertwine, to create a peaceful escape from the chaos of everyday life.

“I took Meg’s in-person workshop and I am so happy I did! I had no idea how she could ever possibly teach the creative methods needed to make her works of art but I left three hours later with all the tools I needed to not only finish the project I started that day but to also create so many more!”

Meet your Teacher

Meg Artist, 8 Years

Hi there!

My name is Meg and I am excited that you have found my page. I started my online creative journey in 2014 after the sudden passing of my older brother, Brendan. That experienced catapulted me into expressing my emotions + grief through creating art; starting with sugar cookies. My creative path led me to the land of french macarons, cakes, pastries and everything sugary and delicious. It was a beautiful reminder that although we experience dark moments along our path, we can also create sweetness through it all.

In 2018, after moving to San Diego, CA from my hometown in West Chester, PA, I fell into embroidery art. I found a new way to express myself through the use of fibers, beads and fabric. In 2019, I began teaching embroidery workshops locally, which then blossomed into sharing modern embroidery around the world.

Creating restores my mind, body and soul and I am a better person through my experience in creating art. I am here to share my knowledge for anyone who is willing to learn. The more I teach, the more I become a student and learn from those that I work with. I would love to work with you in ushering in your creativity through my love of embroidery.

FAQs

  • No. You are purchasing the instructions and three patterns to create a modern embroidery hoop. The student is responsible for sourcing their own materials, which is outlined in this course.

  • This is going to range in price due to the adaptability and flexibility of modern embroidery. I would be prepared to spend in anywhere from $25-$65 for your supplies. When buying materials for class, I provide an Amazon link for ease of shopping but I also recommend students going to their local Joann craft store to source all materials.

  • In my opinion, modern embroidery hoops are meant to to stay in their wooden hoops and be showcased as wall art or displayed on a desk/table. Hoops can be given as gifts or kept for yourself to remind you of your creative journey.

  • Getting through the course material should not take you longer than 90-120 minutes depending on your own speed. However, completing your project itself may take upwards of 6-8 hours.
